Family policies

What families ask before the first day.

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

When to keep your child home

Please keep a student home with a fever or vomiting until the next morning. The office calls a parent when a student is unwell at school, and we ask that someone can come as soon as they can.

Drop-off and pickup

Dismissal is at the front door. A teacher walks each student out, and only the adults on the family's pickup list may collect a student. Please bring photo ID if a teacher does not know you yet.

Closures for weather and holidays

The school closes for snow when the local district does, and the office texts families before 6:30 am. Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha close the school for one or two days each, set by the moon, and the winter break is in late December.

Screens and phones

Phones stay in backpacks, switched off, from the first bell to the last. A parent who needs to reach a student calls the office, and a teacher brings the student to the phone.

What to wear and bring

Students wear plain navy, white or gray tops and dark bottoms, cut modestly for everyone. Girls may wear a hijab in any plain color. The office has the full list, and the pieces can be bought from any shop.

Meals, snacks and allergies

Hot lunch is halal and ordered by the month, and families may pack lunch instead. Tell us about allergies at the visit; we ask privately once you enroll.

Leaving the program

We ask for thirty days' notice in writing. The office goes through what it means for a term in progress before a family signs the enrollment agreement.
