A day at Astrolabe

From the front door to the last bell

The day has the same shape every time, so students know what comes next. The week's prayer times follow the sun, and the office posts them every Monday.

  1. 8:00

    Step 1: Arrival

A teacher stands at the front door. Shoes stay on in the halls and come off at the prayer room.

  2. 8:15

    Step 2: Morning gathering

The whole school meets for a few minutes: announcements, a short reading and a song or two.

  3. 8:30

    Step 3: Morning lessons

Arabic first, then reading, writing and math in grade-level classes.

  4. 11:45

    Step 4: Lunch

Hot lunch is halal and served in the hall. Families can pack lunch instead.

  5. 12:20

    Step 5: Dhuhr prayer

The midday prayer in the prayer room, in groups by grade, then quiet time outdoors.

  6. 12:50

    Step 6: Afternoon lessons

Science, Islamic studies, art and the weekly seminar, ending with a last reading.

Lunch

Lunch from the school kitchen

Hot lunch is halal, cooked in the school kitchen and ordered by the month. Once a month a class of older students helps in the kitchen and eats what it made. Tell us about allergies at the visit; we ask privately once you enroll.
